What a charming spot! The room was spacious with a massive bath and top-notch plumbing. Perfect for a restful night after a busy day in the area.
The pub's Wi-Fi struggled more than I did after a few too many gin and tonics. Just my luck, the coffee machine was more temperamental than my cat!

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the Star and Garter. The comfortable room combined with a superb breakfast showcased local ingredients. The minor hiccup of our room not being ready upon arrival didn't overshadow the hospitable service from Jim and Julie, who truly enhanced our experience.

I recently stayed at the Star and Garter Bed & Breakfast. The location is picturesque, right in the charming village of East Dean. My deluxe double room was spacious and beautifully equipped. I loved the large bathroom and the thoughtful touches, like fresh milk in the fridge and nicely scented toiletries. The staff here made a lasting impression. Every person I interacted with was friendly and genuinely accommodating. Dinner was a highlight. I had the locally caught fish, perfectly cooked with great flavors. Breakfast followed with fluffy scrambled eggs and a delightful selection of locally sourced preserves. the parking can be a bit challenging due to limited space. It did not affect my stay too badly, but it’s something to consider if you’re driving. this spot is a gem for food lovers and those looking for a cozy retreat.

First off, the staff were genuinely friendly, made us feel like we were at home. The food? Absolutely delicious. I can still taste that incredible South Downs venison steak, just sublime!
Now, it wasn’t inexpensive, let’s be real, but worth every penny.

The deluxe double room featured generous space with a luxurious bath, perfectly set up for a comfortable time. The local pub ambiance provides a relaxed vibe, making it easy to unwind after a day of exploration.
Sound travels quite well in this older building, so you might catch the creaks from the floorboards and chatter from neighboring rooms, which could disrupt your peace. During my stay, I encountered some unexpected noise from a party that arrived later in the evening, which shifted the atmosphere from tranquil to lively—a trade-off for visiting a popular local spot. if you plan on hiking in the area, be cautious, as ticks are common on local trails. wearing long trousers is a good tip to avoid those unwelcome companions.

Limited parking availability!!! Need for more staff training during peak times!!! Could benefit from better management of dining rushes to avoid long wait times!!!
